Centric Continues To Ride The Coattails of BET at 2013 Centric Upfronts

BETs' pint sized little brother, Centric, had its 2013 Upfront Presentation in Conjunction with BET this past week. It took the time to announce 2 new series joining the Centric line up, as well as the return of 6 shows, that have helped Centric remain a leading cable channel for Black Entertainment Television. Centric reminds me of family friendly, family oriented programming while BET is more traditional cable programming. As of its 2013 Upfront Presentation that trend has not changed. While the choice of new series joining the network may not thrill many people, the actress on these shows may do the trick. Read below for what 2013 will bring to Centric.

THE FIRST FAMILY (PREMIERES APRIL 19TH @8:00PM)
In a humorous twist of art imitating real life at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Centric premiere a star-studded scripted comedy about a presidential African American family residing in the White House. MY FIVE WIVES ON TLC

"One huge plural family" After the raid in Texas, many Americans became aware of polygamy as an alternative lifestyle being practiced secretly all over the U.S. TLC became the first channel to offer viewers an inside look into how polygamy was being practiced by "modern" looking men and women. The network decided to capitalized on the American public's innate fascination with alternative lifestyles and their curiosity with how these all American families; live, interact and find a way to raise and feed households that are often 5 or 6 times the size of the average family.    We got our first look into how normal and yet chaotic their lives were when TLC introduced its viewers to the Brown family; Kody, his four wives, and their seventeen children.
