Carrie Diaries and The Tomorrow People Among the Casualties

It’s been a brutal day over at The CW, as the network gets ready for its upfront next Thursday. With six shows on the bubble, the CW definitely needed to cut some of its dead weight so that it could pick up some new series for next season. The final verdict is that freshman series the 100, 3rd year veteran Hart of Dixie and the sophomore series currently on hiatus Beauty and the Beast will all be returning for another season. Which means The Tomorrow People, Star-crossed and the much beloved Carrie Diaries have all gotten the ax.

What many people are finding to be odd is the renewal of Beauty and the Beast, especially since a 3rd year renewal almost always means a 4th year renewal. The rating were so low for this drama that the show was put on an indefinite hiatus early this year, in fact the back half of season 2 will air this summer. What was not a surprise was the critical darling The 100, which is getting some of the CW’s best reviews ever, and the soapy Hart of Dixie, both from Warner Bros TV, had been considered frontrunners to return among the five CW series that didn't make the cut for early pickup in February. That despite some recent ratings lows for Dixie in its new Friday slot; the show is only one season away from syndication.

So how do you feel? Did the CW kill the right shows, or are you never watching the channel again? Let us know in the Comments!

MY FIVE WIVES ON TLC

"One huge plural family" After the raid in Texas, many Americans became aware of polygamy as an alternative lifestyle being practiced secretly all over the U.S. TLC became the first channel to offer viewers an inside look into how polygamy was being practiced by "modern" looking men and women. The network decided to capitalized on the American public's innate fascination with alternative lifestyles and their curiosity with how these all American families; live, interact and find a way to raise and feed households that are often 5 or 6 times the size of the average family.    We got our first look into how normal and yet chaotic their lives were when TLC introduced its viewers to the Brown family; Kody, his four wives, and their seventeen children. They ice blocked, threw co-ed parties, and had a non negotiable stance on modesty -- they were normal. It only took one episode for TLC to know they had a hit on their hands. In four seasons, there has bee
