  Chasing Life Review S1E2 - Help Wanted "It's never a good time to get that kind of news" As we figured, being alone and having no one to talk to about having cancer can't last for long. April tells her bestie, Beth, that she's sick, and she reacts more like we thought April would with looks of disbelief and crying. Sometimes it's as hard to watch someone go through something, as it is to go through it yourself. As April tries to run around town, acting like she's not sick and nothing is wrong, one can't help but notice that she's moving a little slower and is a lot out of breath. While April seems hellbent on doing absolutely nothing as it relates to her leukemia, Beth is doing the opposite and learning everything she can about the disease. Between dating, getting an evil new supervisor, tracking down the mysterious girl at her fathers grave and covering for her sister, April is finding time for everything except her health.

Chasing Life REVIEW S1E1 - PILOT “Let me save your life then you can go back to hating me” She’s quick witted, snarky, awkward, savvy and only 24 years old. In an attempt to land the biggest story of her life, April Carver finds out that she has CANCER. Which sucks because her life is just beginning; an amazing best friend, a job that she loves, her crush returning her feelings and a family just starting to get over fathers passing, the timing of this couldn't be worse. I expected for this show to be a cry fest full of love ones mourning, hospitals full of dying patients and a family coming to terms with one of its daughters having cancer and watching how that would affect everyone else’s life. But that’s not what this is; in fact it’s the exact opposite. This isn't Cancer Girl, where the show revolves around her and her illness 24/7; instead this is about 24 year old who happens to have cancer trying desperately for that fact not to overwhelm the rest of her life. ABC Family 2014 Upfront I am more than a little addicted to ABC Family’s comedies and dramas. This year ABC Family has decided to ease up on the comedies and to try and add some new dramas to their schedule. After launching three new dramas this year and all but one of them having disastrous rating, ABC Family has decide to up their game and has ordered 4 new drama pilots. Their pilots include everything from substance abuse to the supernatural. These pilots if picked up would most likely be developed for next summer, since their 2014 summer line-up has already been set. ABC Family also took this time to make formal cancellation and renewal announcements.  Pilots in Development:

This spinoff just didn't have any juice. Sorry Ravenswood fans but the show has officially been cancelled . Unfortunately, the freshman supernatural drama aired just 10 episodes, and was launched behind the annual "Liars" Halloween special in October. The show never seemed to gain a ratings foothold, and continued to fall in the ratings when it was not placed behind Pretty Little Liars. Ravenswood earned an average of just under 1.3 million viewers each week.

 This is a big year for ABC Family comedy pilots especially since no new comedy shows were picked up by the network last year. The network has given series orders to two of its three comedy pilots: Mystery Girls, and Young & Hungry, starring Emily Osment. Production on both comedies will begin early this year for a premiere later in 2014. “Mystery Girls and Young & Hungry join ABC Family’s established comedy series Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy. Former 90210 starlets, Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth are set to reunite in the first pickup decision of 2014 for ABC Family. "Mystery Girls, ” starring two former detective TV show starlets brought back together by a real-life mystery. Charlie Contour (Garth) is a suburban housewife and mother, while Holly Hamilton (Spelling) longs for her glory days in the 90’s when she was on television.     Like I've said before, 2014 is going to be an amazing year for ABC Family . They are kicking the year off with by airing new episodes of their hit original series, on three nights this winter. (This usually happens in the summer, not the spring) And now the network has given Chasing Life an upcoming series on the network, that hasn't even received a premiere date yet, a back order of seven episodes. Put together Chasing Life will have a 20 episode 1st season (the networks standard). Whether all the episodes will air together or in two separate blocks has yet to be determined. Chasing Life was ordered to series at the same time as last summers ABC Family's breakout hits; Twisted and The Fosters.
