ABC Family 2014 Upfront I am more than a little addicted to ABC Family’s comedies and dramas. This year ABC Family has decided to ease up on the comedies and to try and add some new dramas to their schedule. After launching three new dramas this year and all but one of them having disastrous rating, ABC Family has decide to up their game and has ordered 4 new drama pilots. Their pilots include everything from substance abuse to the supernatural. These pilots if picked up would most likely be developed for next summer, since their 2014 summer line-up has already been set. ABC Family also took this time to make formal cancellation and renewal announcements.  Pilots in Development:

 This is a big year for ABC Family comedy pilots especially since no new comedy shows were picked up by the network last year. The network has given series orders to two of its three comedy pilots: Mystery Girls, and Young & Hungry, starring Emily Osment. Production on both comedies will begin early this year for a premiere later in 2014. “Mystery Girls and Young & Hungry join ABC Family’s established comedy series Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy. Former 90210 starlets, Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth are set to reunite in the first pickup decision of 2014 for ABC Family. Charlie Contour (Garth) is a suburban housewife and mother, while Holly Hamilton (Spelling) longs for her glory days in the 90’s when she was on television. The ABC Family original comedy Melissa & Joey is premiering its first Holiday Special Wednesday, December 11th from (8:00-8:30pm) . Their Holiday Special entitled a "A New Kind of Christmas" guest stars Jaime Pressly as Mel's sister Meredith, who heads to Mel's for the Holidays after being released from prison on furlough to celebrate Christmas with the kids and Mel. Meredith is unruffled by Joe's obvious animosity towards her.

*Updated 7/15/13* In 2013 ABC family did not host an upfront event, most likely because the fate of more than one show is still unknown. ABC Family is one of those rare television stations where I am going to try everything that premieres on that channel at least once. I may not love everything but, I must say I am addicted to more than a handful of their hit television programs. Summer programming is where Abc Family shines and I must say that this year is no different; there are new hits and returning favorites for everyone to enjoy. Although there is still no word on what lies ahead for previous summer hits such as Bunheads, and the lying game, that is no reason not to tune in this summer and get wrapped up in; the mystery, friendships, and family that remains a key component of ABC Family original series.
