A Heartland Christmas - 9 PM
UP
It's a week before Christmas and holiday preparations are moving into high gear at Heartland. Lou (Michelle Morgan) is trying to forget that her new husband Peter may not be able to spend Christmas with her due to his father's illness and so she obsesses even more than usual about making everything perfect for a traditional family Christmas. But Lou's plans are altered by an anonymous call about starving and abandoned horses trapped in an avalanche in the remote Rocky Mountain area of Pike River.  Amy (Amber Marshall) of course insists that they go and check the situation out.  Lou is not happy, but with Amy’s assurance that they'll be back in plenty of time for Christmas, she and Ty (Graham Wardle) head off on the long trek to Pike River. The job however is huge and Jack (Shaun Johnston) and Tim (Chris Potter) end up joining them on their rescue mission.  In the process of trying to free the horses, they reunite the town recluse Will Vernon (Nicholas Campbell) with his estranged daughter Joanna (Hélène Joy) and grandson Sam (Matthew Knight). Meanwhile, back at Heartland, Mallory's tacky Christmas decorations totally clash with Lou's tasteful and colour co-ordinated décor as they anxiously wait for their families to return home. And Caleb and Ashley discover you don’t need expensive gifts to have the perfect Christmas.

But it's the younger children -- aspiring ball player Russell; Hopalong Cassidy fan Norman; and straight-talking little Ruthie -- who struggle most with a bleak-looking future. Now, with their mother gone and their father, William, overwhelmed by the dismal economy and mounting doctor bills resulting from young Norman's battle with polio, the Kamp siblings fully expect a Christmas without presents or festivities. But when William scrapes together a dollar in coins to use only for Christmas gifts, everything begins to change. As each member of the family comes up with a special gift that costs little or no money to be given to another member of the family, the Kamps soon begin to see many of their dearest wishes come true. And just when Norman and Ruthie believe their hopes and dreams are dashed, small miracles of service and sacrifice bring them joy and teach the true meaning of Christmas giving. Perhaps a boy who struggles to walk can become a real cowboy after all.

Christmas for a Dollar - 11 PM
UP
America is in the midst of the Great Depression, and the Kamp family is struggling to get by, especially since Mrs. Kamp's untimely death nearly a year ago. Eighteen-year-old Verna does her best to take care of the family while going to school, and seventeen-year-old Warren is anxious to work and earn money to help the family in spite of his father's protests.

Thus it is that Max's heavenly superior, an attractive angel named Jo (Katey Sagal), descends to earth to untangle the mess. Subsequently, however, both Max and Jo come to realize that the ultimates fates of Sally and Karl are inextricably intertwined. Naughty & Nice - 7 PM
UP
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Los Angeles and commuters have Pepper  Sterling (Tilky Jones), a cynical and funny radio comic, to keep them entertained. When Pepper's latest radio antics anger an im portant advertising executive, he gets shipped over to a sister station, KBRG in Idyllwild, Colorado, to serve out his suspension until the dust blows over. Sandy Love  (Haylie Duff), following in her father’s footsteps, loves radio and came home  to Idyllwild  to host her own talk show.  She is unapologetically romantic and nostalgic, especially at Christmas. Thrown together  as co-hosts on her show “Dr. Love in the Morning,”  she is immediately at odds with Pepper,  who never met a sentiment he couldn’t twist into a punchline  and has no use for Christmas.  When Samantha and Pepper’s “war of words” catches the attention of the small town, their  joint show becomes a hit and they start to see something in each other.

The Kid Who Loved Christmas is a nicely acted family melodrama that briefly features Sammy Davis Jr., in his final screen performance. The kid who loves Christmas is Reggie (Trent Cameron), a young orphan on the verge of being adopted by a jazz musician (Hill Street Blues' Michael Warren) and his wife (singer Vanessa Williams). But just as the adoption is about to be finalized, Williams is killed in a car accident. Warren spends most of the movie battling with a social worker (Good Times' Esther Rolle), who is now withholding approval of the adoption — she doesn't think Warren's traveling-jazzman life would be a good influence on Reggie.

The Homecoming: A Christmas Story - 1 PM
UP
The Walton family is preparing for Christmas in the early 1930s. It's Christmas eve and they are waiting for father Walton to come home from his job in the city some 50 miles away. Since he is late, everyone is worried and over the radio the mother and grandparents hear about an overturned bus and hurt travelers but keep this news from the rest of the family. The story is really a coming of age story about the oldest son JohnBoy who must cut down the tree with his grandfather since his father isn't home and is eventually told about his missing father and sets out to find him. An all round heartwarming story, especially if you are a fan of The Waltons. A simple story about a simple family in simple times. Great family entertainment!

To make matters worse Paul's newly appointed assistant (Mark Wootton) has taken strides in fuelling his "little white lie," making matters a whole lot more complicated as Maddens finds himself in the midst of much unwanted attention. He lives in the shadow of his domineering father, and his estranged, 'golden boy' identical twin brother Roderick, who is a world-famous composer and conductor. When Mr Poppy decides St Bernadette's should enter the National 'Song for Christmas' competition, he convinces Donald to sign the entry forms, later kidnapping him for an impromptu road trip to Christmas Castle in Wales, where the competition is being held. However, Roderick is also competing in the competition, mentoring the choir of posh St Cuthbert's College. Mr Shakespeare (Jason Watkins) and Oakmoor return as well, and also hoping to win. Mr Peterson and his class (accompanied by a baby and a stray donkey!) become lost in the wilds of Wales, and must survive many challenges, if they are to reach Christmas Castle safely and win the competition.

Naughty & Nice - 5 PM
UP
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Los Angeles and commuters have Pepper  Sterling (Tilky Jones), a cynical and funny radio comic, to keep them entertained.

MY FIVE WIVES ON TLC

"One huge plural family" After the raid in Texas, many Americans became aware of polygamy as an alternative lifestyle being practiced secretly all over the U.S. TLC became the first channel to offer viewers an inside look into how polygamy was being practiced by "modern" looking men and women. The network decided to capitalized on the American public's innate fascination with alternative lifestyles and their curiosity with how these all American families; live, interact and find a way to raise and feed households that are often 5 or 6 times the size of the average family.    We got our first look into how normal and yet chaotic their lives were when TLC introduced its viewers to the Brown family; Kody, his four wives, and their seventeen children. They ice blocked, threw co-ed parties, and had a non negotiable stance on modesty -- they were normal. It only took one episode for TLC to know they had a hit on their hands. In four seasons, there has bee...
