"These are a few of my favorite things" The Sound of Music (one of my mom’s 2 favorite movies) was written in 1959 and was the last musical written by the amazing Rodgers and Hammerstein. The musical was based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, and the songs; My Favorite Things, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Do-Re-Mi, and The Sound of Music have all become classics. In 1965 The Sound of Music was adapted in to a film starring the legendary Julie Andrews and went on to win five Academy Awards. Set in Austria right before World War II, a young soon to be nun (Maria) is instructed by the Mother to spend more time outside the abbey to decide if she was ready for the monastic life.
