The Hills are Alive with THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC on NBC



"These are a few of my favorite things"

The Sound of Music (one of my mom’s 2 favorite movies) was written in 1959 and was the last musical written by the amazing Rodgers and Hammerstein. The musical was based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, and the songs; My Favorite Things, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Do-Re-Mi, and The Sound of Music have all become classics. In 1965 The Sound of Music was adapted in to a film starring the legendary Julie Andrews and went on to win five Academy Awards. 



Set in Austria right before World War II, a young soon to be nun (Maria) is instructed by the Mother to spend more time outside the abbey to decide if she was ready for the monastic life. While she is deciding she will act as a governess to the seven children of widower Captain Georg von Trapp. She eventually falls in love with the Captain, but the happy couple face  a unique set of challenges when Captain von Trapp is forcibly commissioned in the the German Navy, which is against his beliefs.  Deciding that he would not fight for the Nazi’s the Captain and Maria makes plans to secretly flee Austria. But fleeing is not so easy when their every move is watched.


              

NBC announced that they would be will be producing “The Sound of Music” based upon the original Broadway Musical. Maria and Captain von Trapp will be played by Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer, in this beloved story that became an instant classic of a young nun-to-be who falls in love with the captain and he seven children. Set in the era of Nazi-occupied Austria we follow the story of two people who risk everything to listen to their conscience and do the right thing. The NBC version of “The Sound of Music” will be a faithful adaption of the original stage musical and no the movie, it will retell the story for a new generation and will be broadcast LIVE

So Far three other characters have been cast:
Audra, a five-time Tony and two-time Grammy winner, will be playing the role of Mother Abbess,

Laura, who won the Tony Award for playing the title role inGypsy, will play Elsa Schrader, the rich would-be fiancee of Captain Von Trapp.

Christian, who starred on Smash and won a Tony for Peter and the Starcatcher, will be playing Max

Preachers Daughters Round 2

The outrageous reality series Preachers Daughters , on Lifetime has been renewed for season 2 and will premiere March 5th. “The gap between heaven and hell has never been wider than in the Season 2 of Preachers’ Daughters.” So reads the press release issued today by Lifetime. Featuring 2 returning daughters; Kolby Koloff and Taylor Coleman and 2 new ones; Megan Cassidy of Boiling Springs, South Carolina and Tori Elliott from New Orleans. Preachers Daughters season two promises to be as outrageous as the first season.
